The Vision: Build a better IIT, together.

At IIT, there is a lot of  room for growth and improvement. As President of SGA, I want all students to contribute to the improvement of the school in some way. They could work directly on projects or contribute by bringing pertinent issues to the attention of SGA using effective channels.

In regards to the latter, I hope to promote knowledge of SGA representatives among the student body. Any group of people who have an issue that is bothering them should know who to contact in SGA and how to work with SGA to solve the issue.

As for the former, I plan to grow the number of members of SGA so that we can address more issues.  To do this I plan to actively recruit members, particularly in the incoming freshman class, by holding events and mixers during the semester.

...the three point approach

1.

I have a vision for a more efficient student Government. I believe SGA can do a lot more to communicate with the student body.  We need to reinvent the way we publicize projects and open new avenues for constructive feedback.

One way I plan to this is by working on the current systems we have, particularly Votebox and the weekly Thought Tables. For Votebox, I plan to work with the Vice President of Communications to ensure that issues are responded to in a timely and effective manner.

For Thought Tables, as President, I plan to institute a policy where every senator is required to sign up to host a Thought Tables session. This will enable us reach more students, open up feedback channels and enable us to remain accountable.

A More Accessible and Accountable Student Government

2.

An Involved Student Body

As SGA President, I will continuously work to ensure that SGA is tackling projects to improve student experience both now, and in the long run.  I will constantly motivate my fellow SGA members to give their best effort by reflecting on why we do what we do and how we can serve students better.

By connecting with faculty and administration, I aim  to advocate for students by influencing policy decisions. I would also connect students and administration in a shared vision of what IIT should be and how we can get there

A Better UniversIITy
